First Day of School!

Today was my granddaughter’s first day at “big school”. She was met there by my grandson, who is two years older and this year begins grade 2.

Our family has a long history with this school – my own children went there, and some of the same teachers who taught my children are now teaching my grandchildren.

And so the formal learning journey for this little lady begins. ❤

    1. Thank you, they are both gorgeous children – even if I do say so myself! ❤
They are cousins, but could easily pass for siblings as they look so much alike. They adore each other – like siblings – and also fight like siblings! I hope they always stay as close as they are now.

    1. Thank you, Barbara. 🙂
The uniforms have changed a lot! The girls used to have a dress to wear and the boys had grey pants and a maroon shirt. Now, they wear what looks more like the old sports uniform – every day of the week! I think it’s too casual, but times have definitely changed.

      1. It occurred to me that it looks like your school year starts in February while ours starts in August or September, depending on the local district, after the long summer break. Do the children get any week-long winter or spring vacations like we do here?

        1. That’s right, the children have a long summer holiday over Christmas, usually for six to seven weeks, then the new school year begins either late January or early February. There are four school terms here, so they have time off again near Easter, again in late June/early July, and again around September/October. In all, the children attend school for 40 weeks out of the 52 weeks.
