The blossoms are on the Jacaranda tree, Eliza. I thought they made a very pretty backdrop. 🙂
The bird flying toward the Kookaburra is another Australian native, a Noisy Miner, and they “protect” the territory of their friends, the Magpies, during nesting season! They are not a threat to any birds at all, and the Kookaburra wasn’t at all concerned, but the Miners are very loud and pretend to be big bullies. 🙂

They sound like our blue jays, a lot of bluster and noise. They can overwhelm a feeder in seconds and send the other birds flying!

It’s interesting how one type of bird is protecting the territory of another species. That seems like it must be fairly unique in the bird kingdom.
