Silent Sunday

  1. What a nice close up! This bird is of course an exotic one for me, but is the kookaburra a common visitor for you? Sparrows are very common around here, so I never give them much thought, but I think I should change that thinking. A photographer on YouTube was explaining that if you’d like to improve your bird photography (I would!) to practice on the birds that are common for you, so that when you get your chance to get a shot of the more exotic ones, you have lots of practice.

    1. That’s great advise you read! I practice taking photos of all birds, in fact, I have a post coming up this week of a bird I consider exotic because I hear it often, but rarely see it. 🙂
Our kookaburras have always been regular visitors, yet every time I see one I am happy for the visit. I put a little bit of meat out for the birds every morning, just to keep them visiting too. 😉 But only a small amount, so they keep catching their own worms as well.

  2. Another sweet kookaburra. I’m currently watching an ill-behaved scrub jay chasing off smaller white-crowned sparrows so he can take over the feeder.

    1. Cheeky jay! Our kookas sometimes try chasing away the other birds, so I tell them there is plenty to share. 😉 All the birds return too, so I’m happy. 🙂
