A Touch of Magic

The mist returned this morning, adding a touch of magic to the early hours of the day.

We moved into our newly built home here in March 1994, so twenty-seven years ago this month, and awakening to a misty valley scene never grows old, even after all these years.

This afternoon, I found more magic in my garden, a tiny toadstool, and suddenly a children’s story began forming in my mind. Imagine the possibilities of a whole village of tiny fairies living in the garden, with the golden toadstool being the focal point of their village!

This bright orange gerbera – complete with a tiny ladybird (can you see it there close to the top of the flower?) – would have to be the sun that lit up the fairies’ world every day!

Even my flowering gazania looked magical and other-worldly today. On the eighteen petals are eighteen burgundy comets, zooming towards the orange life-force at the centre of the flower.

We’ve had some pretty dismal weather recently which has prevented me from visiting my garden as often as I usually would, even during the hotter months of the year. It’s encouraging to find a touch of inspirational magic emerging as the seasons change. 🙂

Relaxing at the end of a busy day.

Tonight, after watching a movie on TV, I realised I hadn’t added this morning’s misty valley photo – and here it is nearly 11:30pm!

Although hidden by mist early in the day, Mount Warning emerged from the clouds later on.

Watching the movie, which I rarely do, was the recipe for relaxing after a busy, and rather warm, summer’s day. 🙂

Remembering Phoebe

Almost two years have passed by, and I can talk about her now with fond memories, rather than the raw saddness I felt the day she left us.

My indoors girl, fourteen year old Phoebe (2013)

One of the few times when Phoebe and Tabitha were on the same page, or in the same room! (2014)

Gazing outdoors, remembering carefree days of prancing around the garden chasing butterflies perhaps? (2015)

Phoebe’s last birthday. She made it to 20. (2019)

The 3rd of February will always be a day when I will pause and remember my Grand Queen Phoebe.

Drama in the valley, after the storm

We had a pretty wild electric storm overnight. I’m not sure how long the rain, crashing and flashing continued, but this morning the valley looked stunning! I could have continued taking photos all day as the appearance of the ranges and Mount Warning changed constantly. The whole atmosphere felt different, washed clean by the rain and shining brilliantly, with moody clouds arriving, swirling, creating some magic, then moving along. Even tonight after sunset, the drama in the cloudy sky continued.

We also had our first visit in the front garden from this year’s baby magpie. 🙂

I submitted one assignment yesterday morning and now I’m madly working on my final assignment which is due at midnight, Wednesday. My eyes need a rest, but the end is sooooo close …
