Tess’s Azalea

Instead of posting another photo of a grey valley, grey sky, and a patch of white where Mount Warning should be in full view, I thought today I would share recent photos of “Tess’s Azalea”.

Our family was blessed to share eleven years of Tess’s life, a faithful friend who brought indescribable joy to our lives.

Eleven is a good age for a Rottweiler. That’s my logical brain – my common sense – talking. Emotionally, I felt wrecked after she left us.

Tess’s place of rest is in our garden, in an area known as the pet’s graveyard, and to mark her place among our other lost furred and feathered friends, I planted an azalea, which flowers in two tones. Tess’s Azalea.

She was a beautiful girl, but don’t just take my word for it … here’s a photo of Tess.

A Beautiful Sunrise

During this morning’s sunrise, the valley demonstrated all the beauty I know she is capable of. I call the valley “she” as I like to believe that everything natural in the valley is the creation of Mother Nature, in case anyone is wondering.

From the pink tinted sunrise sky to the formless mist lapping against the “shores” of the distant ranges, the entire valley was pure early morning perfection.

See the dark green “island” peeking through the “ocean” of mist?

And while gossamer waves of mist lapped the “shores” of the tree-covered islands …

… an early visitor arrived to join me in admiring the view, as the “waning gibbous” morning moon looked down on us from the waking sky.

Yesterday, between visits from the men installing our new kitchen benchtops, I restored my office back to it’s pre-new-floor-coverings condition. I also took the opportunity to get rid of anything that I no longer have a use for. There’s plenty of sorting and decluttering happening in this house currently! So tonight I am back at my desktop computer. No more fumbling with tiny keys on my iPhone – yay!

The kitchen renovation is scheduled to be finished by the end of this week. Tomorrow, the plumber arrives to restore water to my kitchen. Meanwhile, Bowie needed to investigate the new kitchen sink, as I knew he would. 😉

Clear and Sunny ~ (until it rained …)

After several days of cloudy skies and hazy mountain scenes, it was such a treat this morning to see the whole mountain.

On clear days such as today, the zooming device on my camera reveals the crevices and trees, not only on the mountain, but also amid the surrounding hills and dales.

It was such a beautiful day that I decided to do some washing and hang it out on the clothes line in the sun. Then it rained …

I quickly retrieved my almost-dry washing from the line and returned to my kitchen – or rather, where my kitchen used to be. The old flooring was removed this morning. and now …

… the flooring is the same throughout the whole room. 🙂

Miss Tibbs could be impressed, but I suspect her intense stare towards where the kitchen used to be is more likely a sign of her confusion! 😉

Remembering Phoebe

Almost two years have passed by, and I can talk about her now with fond memories, rather than the raw saddness I felt the day she left us.

My indoors girl, fourteen year old Phoebe (2013)

One of the few times when Phoebe and Tabitha were on the same page, or in the same room! (2014)

Gazing outdoors, remembering carefree days of prancing around the garden chasing butterflies perhaps? (2015)

Phoebe’s last birthday. She made it to 20. (2019)

The 3rd of February will always be a day when I will pause and remember my Grand Queen Phoebe.

Back to Basics … AKA “In My World”

On a day when far too many people expressed far too many biased opinions on (political) matters which were once regarded as a personal matter, on a biased public forum (social media) which I have considered leaving many times during recent weeks, I will share some photos of realities. This is what is happening In My World.

A drastic change in the weather provided a reprieve from the heat of the last two days. Mount Warning, however, remained in hiding all day. (Perhaps I should have done the same.)

In the distance, I spotted a tree containing many beautiful song birds. When I magnified the photo, I was able to identify the birds as both male and female Figbirds.

I had a visit from four-month-old Eli, who has worked out how to roll over onto his tummy. He was mesmerised by Brontë, and it seemed the feeling was mutual. Brontë was completely besotted with Eli.

When you take away all of the B.S. in the world, isn’t love and caring the most important thing?
