Hazy, blustery, and a beautiful sunset

The weather has been pretty ordinary today. Although the sun has been shining, the wind hasn’t let up for a minute, and the crystal clear valley is hazy again after being washed clean by Saturday’s storm.

I didn’t know what I would end up with today photo-wise, but tonight we had a very pretty sunset. Mind you, I didn’t stay outside long to take the photo, the wind was quite cold!

This afternoon I had a sweet little visitor again. Daddy magpie turned up with baby mags, and they both got stuck into the bird seed I had left out for the honeyeaters. They seemed to enjoy it too.

This baby is still very young, but it seems to be a confident flyer. I see it often flying around up high with its parents.

On Saturday afternoon – during the power outage we had, as it turned out – we had a kitchen designer here who made us an offer to replace the whole kitchen which we simply couldn’t refuse! They are booked up with new kitchen installations until February, but it seems from what we have been told that we will have a kitchen filled with tradesmen for a few days, and everything will be finished when they leave. That includes removing the old kitchen, replacing all the cupboards, installing the new rangehood and range cooker – everything! So I’m pretty excited about that. 🙂

Sean Connery

Windy Monday

It isn’t often that I’m dreadfully moved to hear of the loss of a famous person. Sure, it’s always sad to hear of someone passing, I think of their family and friends, and how the loss will affect those who are left behind.

And then yesterday the news came through of the passing of Sean Connery.

During my last uni semester, one of the books we were asked to read was Dr No. I have never been a huge James Bond fan, but besides reading the book, I watched the movie for one reason only – it was in Dr No that Sean Connery first stared as James Bond.

But it was when I watched another movie, several years ago, that I became a huge Sean Connery fan. So today, I will add a short YouTube video of one of my favourite scenes from the 1986 movie Highlander.

A Windy Friday

It’s been a bit of a blah day again today – weather wise – with a hazy film blurring Mount Warning early in the day. I thought if perhaps I waited, the day would improve. It didn’t. And when a gusty wind picked up during the afternoon the dusty-hazy-whatever-it-is increased.

My beautiful granddaughter Aurora and her Mummy spent the day with me though, so indoors it was a very lovely day indeed. ❤

Introducing …

This afternoon I met my two-day-old baby grandson, Eli.

I couldn’t mention his arrival before as the proud parents needed time to catch their breaths and recover from Eli’s birth before making their announcement.

Now I can tell the world about this incredibly gorgeous little man who has captured all of our hearts with his sweet little face, bright eyes, and tiny cooing sounds. He’s adorable! We are all so very blessed to have Eli choose our family to be a part of. ❤

There’s nothing in the world that could take the spotlight off Eli today! So it was actually serendipitous that Mount Warning has spent most of the day hiding behind a combination of smoke from a nearby fire and dust stirred up by gusting winds. I took a photo anyway …

… but if there’s one photo I could add today that may just overshadow the photo of my first meeting with Eli, it’s one of Eli meeting his cousin, my beautiful granddaughter Aurora! ❤

The Blue Mountain on a Cold Winter’s Day

Today the weather turned cold, with strong westerly winds blowing away the last of the leaves off our deciduous trees. Mount Warning and the ranges were blue today, darker shades of blue in the morning and lightening in colour as the day progressed.

I took photos of the mountain, ranges and valley from the front of my house today. Our land slopes down from the road, so the closer to the front boundary I walk, the wider the view of the valley I can see. From the top of the hill, I took a wide photo of the view before me. Once I had cropped out the roof of our house, the photo shows more of the expanse of the ranges to the south.

And a photo shoot of Mount Warning isn’t complete without a close up!
