Gentle Amber

An Ignorance a Sunset
552

An ignorance a Sunset
Confer upon the Eye—
Of Territory—Color—
Circumference—Decay—

Its Amber Revelation
Exhilirate—Debase—
Omnipotence’ inspection
Of Our inferior face—

And when the solemn features
Confirm—in Victory—
We start—as if detected
In Immortality—

    1. I always have to read over Emily Dickinson’s words a few times too Sybil, before completely understanding them, that’s why I chose this poem to accompany my sunset photo! The light of the sky was so very special, so surreal….I believe she is saying that we (humans) are inferior to such magnificence in nature, and the sunset knows it is more fabulously gorgeous than any of us mere mortals. But that’s just me, and that’s what poetry is all about, we can read into it whatever we like really, or simply not get it, and either is okay.
