He was! This magpie was a twin, born this time last year, but I don’t know what became of the other one. Magpies are very territorial though and the male hunts the young ones out of the area during winter the year after they are born, which is sad. I’ve seen the father attack this one a few times, so I sneak food out to him whenever I hear him chortling in my garden. 🙂
